Jim DeVore- Senior Pastor
Jim graduated from University of Southern California 1985 with a BA in Broadcast Journalism to follow his dream of being a disc jockey. He worked at a couple of radio stations in Yuma, Arizona and EL Centro, California. In October 1986 came to Lancaster as the Operations Director of the Christian Radio Station KAVC. He then attended Grace Chapel in Lancaster and began to volunteer in the Children’s Ministry. In 1988 Jim married his wife Missy and they now have 6 children, 4 boys, and 2 girls. In 1990 Jim was hired as the Children’s Director and later licensed to become the Children’s Pastor at Grace Chapel. He continued to host a radio show called “Understanding the Times” with then California State Senator George Runner until 1996. In 2003 Jim began seminary at Talbot Theological Seminary and graduated in 2005 with a Masters Degree in Theology. Also in 2003 Grace Chapel was approached by the remaining congregation at Littlerock Bible Church and asked if they would start a brand new church using their facilities. Jim DeVore was asked to Pastor that church. On Easter Sunday 2003 Cornerstone Church of Littlerock began its mission to serve the people in Littlerock, East Palmdale, Pearblossom, Lake LA, Juniper Hills, Sun Village, and other southeast regions of the Antelope Valley with the purpose to Love God and Love People. The DeVore family moved to Littlerock in 2004.
In commenting about the purpose of Cornerstone Church Pastor Jim DeVore said “As we love God we desire to worship him, study his Word, the Bible, and to live our lives to honor him. As we love people we have a saying that we don’t expect to clean the fish before we catch them. In other words, come to Cornerstone just as you are and ask God to make you as he wants you to be.”

They have been blessed with three children and 5 precious grandsons. They moved to the Antelope Valley in 1984 and found their church home at what is now Grace Chapel in Lancaster where he served on the board of deacons and taught Adult Sunday School. In 2003 God clearly led him to go help start a little church in Littlerock. He started as Pastor Jim DeVore’s personal advisor then when the structure of the church was started he served on the Elder Board. In 2008 he was licensed as a Pastor and became the Associate Pastor at Cornerstone Church of Littlerock. It has been his privilege to help shepherd the people of Littlerock at Cornerstone. He loves teaching God’s word in adult Sunday School classes, the Institutes, and he and his wife have been active in marriage counseling. He has spent much of his time reaching out to the needy in the Littlerock area, practicing Loving God and Loving People. Val Mercy- Director of Women’s Ministry
I accepted Jesus as my savior when I was 8 years old. I was compelled to walk down that isle at the little church we attended and tell the pastor I loved Jesus and wanted to accept him into my heart. I didn’t know what all that would mean to my future, but I am forever grateful for that day. The Lord has loved me through many difficult times, and he is still teaching me along the way to love him back, trust him and surrender all to him daily. I have been married to Pastor Ken since 1967, my high school sweetheart, and we have 3 married children who have provided us with 5 precious grandsons, which light up our lives. I worked for the Palmdale School District for over 25 years and the last 20 years as a Library Media Technician. I was privileged to serve under the direction of the Director of Women’s Ministry at Grace Chapel, in Lancaster, as Special Events Coordinator for several years. I also led Women’s weekly Bible studies which gave me an insatiable desire for God’s Word. In 2003 both Ken and I were asked to join a small group starting a new church in Littlerock. It was extremely difficult to leave the ministry and church family established at Grace Chapel. But out of obedience to God’s Word, and letting my husband lead, I reluctantly followed Ken to Littlerock, where the Lord opened our world to a bounty of blessing. It is my utmost privilege to serve the women of the greater Littlerock area at Cornerstone Church. It has been one of the greatest blessings God has ever bestowed upon me to share God’s love, His faithfulness, and His Word with the women of this community. Whatever time and effort I have given them has been given back to me at least seven fold, in God’s blessings. I love these women and I love serving the Lord at Cornerstone. It is my hope that everyone will commit to being in God’s word daily, seeking Him, and seeking to obey him, because I know He will change their lives, as He has mine.
Kevin Yarian- Ministry Director
Kevin is the Ministry Director at Cornerstone Church of Littlerock. This entails leading the youth group, overseeing Sunday schools, leading church seminars, and working on special church projects. In 2016 Kevin graduated from The Master’s College with a Bachelor’s in Biblical Counseling. While there, the importance of God’s Word and the accuracy of it’s teaching was impressed upon him, which caused Kevin to have a passion for the local church and for reaching the lost. Recognizing the need for effective and accurate preaching, Kevin has begun attending The Master’s Seminary where he hopes to graduate with a Master of Divinity in a few years. Kevin, since the age of 18, has desired to be in pastoral ministry. He was most persuaded to enter the ministry by his youth pastor and parents. Kevin is married to Caitlin and together they like spending time outdoors, going on road trips, and reading God’s Word. Together, they love the ministry opportunities that they are afforded at Cornerstone.
Eldred Hughes- Director of Children’ s Ministry
Welcome to Cornerstone Church of Littlerock. My name is Eldred Hughes and I am the Director of Children’s Ministry for the church. I absolutely love kids and those who minister to kids and have about 40 years of experience working in children’s programs including church Children’s Ministries (Awana, Pilgrim Fellowship, Sunday Schools, etc.), Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H and Special Olympics). I have always attended church from a young child and first came to Christ as a 12 year boy at a Southern Baptist church in central Ohio and was baptized the same year. Then I was very active in church programs as a teenager and into my college years. After a couple of years of college I joined the Navy and spent a 21 year career in the submarine nuclear power program. During about half of this period my involvement in church slipped somewhat as I allowed transfers and submarine operational schedules to get in the way. Christ always made his presence known in our lives during this time period as we always seemed to be guided in our decisions we had to make at various career points. While assigned in Connecticut for an extended time period I was the Children’s Director in two different churches. I retired from the Navy almost 15 years ago and my new job eventually transferred me to the Los Angeles area about 12 years ago. My wife and I started attending Cornerstone Church about 10 years ago and we both reaffirmed our faith in the Lord and have been active in church again since then! For a few years we attended and worked on reestablishing our faith, then I was asked by the pastor to be the Children’s Ministry director. After many prayers I agreed it was time for me to serve in the role and I am now entering the fifth year as Children’s Director at Cornerstone Church of Littlerock. In this role I am responsible for all church programs for children from pre-k through the 6th grade. This includes the Awana program, curriculum for Sunday Schools, Children’s Church and Vacation Bible School; training and supervision of the Children’s Ministry staff and oversee special programs that involve the children. I also teach on a regular basis in all the Ministry environments and attempt to know all the families personally to ensure we are meeting any needs they may have, especially any special needs issues. Suggestions are always welcome as we are constantly looking to improve the programs.

Debra Olmstead- Church Secretary/Administrative Assistant
I have attended and been involved with many ministries since we became Cornerstone Church of Littlerock. I have been blessed beyond measure as the Lord has allowed me to teach our pre-school Sunday School for the past 16 years. In addition to teaching the pre-schoolers I have also ben involved in our Women’s Ministry as a small group leader, our senior visitation team, VBS, prayer groups, and prayer chains. I have a heart for everyone in the church from young to old and have been blessed to be able to serve so many of God’s children wherever they are in life. I am the mother of three wonderful children, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. I spent thirty years in the medical field and currently along with my responsibilities in the church office I take care of special needs adults. I enjoy camping, crafts, crocheting, and spending time with the wonderful ladies here at Cornerstone.
